About Us

Elizabeth Beitel Evangelical Memorial Lutheran Church has been serving the Northeast side of San Antonio since 1904.  It started as a country church, then became a suburb church and now resides many miles from the suburbs, all without changing its address. For over 100 years, the members of Beitel Memorial Lutheran Church have enjoyed a legacy of tradition and faith. Today, the congregation contains a mix of direct descendants of the founders of the church and those who have moved to the community more recently.  We invite you to join us this Sunday.  Park up front in our visitor parking spots. Enter the building through the double doors.  If you have any questions, greeters are stationed near the entry to the sanctuary. We look forward to seeing you very soon.

Worship Style

Worship at Beitel Memorial Lutheran Church is a mixture of traditional and modern liturgy. We sing hymns out of a traditional hymnal and sometimes from a more modern book of songs. Worship also includes several types of prayers, a confession, canticles, a sermon, Holy Communion twice a month, and a blessing.  All responses of the congregation are displayed on our multi-media screens in a large font. We are eager to have you come worship with us.

We are a member church of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. A 3.86 million member organization with around 9,400 congregations, the largest Lutheran denomination in the United States.  The ELCA is made up of 65 synods. Beitel Memorial is in the Southwestern Texas Synod.
